BIOGRAPHY

Hey there. I'm Jenny. I make music with my husband Tyler. It all started back at the University of Delaware. Yes, I'm being serious, Delaware. Anyway, during my first weekend at school, I decided to take a bus to church. I stepped on the bus and sat next to my friend Joel. Before I knew it, Tyler, who was sitting in front of us, turned around and introduced himself. We talked for a few minutes; he turned back around, and promptly forgot my name. I saw him in the dining hall a few weeks later and we spoke again. Tyler was the music coordinator for the campus ministry that I happened to get involved with. We started leading worship together and from there we began writing songs and eating omelets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We spent the first year singing together in the stairwells of the student center. The acoustics were incredible. Sometime that fall we started dating and well, as they say, the rest is history.

Life with Tyler is interesting because we're so different from each other. Tyler says things like "dude," and "stoked," while I have a lazy way of speaking and tend to drop my g's. He grew up listening to jazz music and refined classical compositions while my family listened to Ricky Skaggs and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Tyler lived in the same house until he went to college whereas I'd lived in six different states and two countries before moving into my dorm freshman year. Tyler is the life of a party, while I have to muster up every ounce of courage possible to talk to people I don't know. I think that our differences are part of what make us a great team. Tyler pushes me to try new things and I keep him somewhat grounded. Our different musical backgrounds inspire us to create new music. If it weren't for Tyler, I'd probably be writing cheesy country songs and he'd be a virtual Jack Johnson impersonator.

In 2007, we released a record called A Prelude. We chose the title because we felt like the songs on the record were really just the beginning of what we were to become as a duo. Admittedly, we didn't know what we were doing when we recorded A Prelude, but we somehow managed to produce a collection of songs that, despite their imperfections, communicated what was on our hearts at the time.

In 2008, we loaded up a U-Haul with our belongings and moved to Nashville. We didn't know what we were getting into, but did know that we wanted to pursue music a bit more seriously. In 2009, we quit our day jobs and released This Isn't a Dream. That spring, we toured for the first time. It was frightening and exhilarating all at the same time and when we made our way back to Nashville, we couldn't believe that we were actually able to make a living doing something we loved so much. We traveled consistently for the next year, playing in houses, coffee shops, churches, colleges, and bars. We met all sorts of interesting people, some of whom now feel like extended family, and learned a lot about ourselves.

This past summer, we decided it was time to make another record. We gathered a group of songs and went into the studio (aka our friends' closets, living rooms, and basements). We're really happy with the result. Faint Not chronicles our journey of faith, from God's pursuit of us, to first believing, to the really high highs and the really low lows; it's an honest telling of our relationship with the Lord and with each other. As writers, songs allow us to communicate experiences and truths when we can't find the words to speak them. Our hope is that the songs will resonate with you. We don't know what the future holds, but we're thankful for where we are today. We're thankful for you and your support of our music.
